Have you ever had a premonition about something that came true?
Submitted by Sheri.
My kind of question! :-) I've actually had a lot of premonitions that have come true. Unfortunately most of them have been about family memebers who are about to cross over but in a strange way...knowing ahead of time has helped me say goodbye.
These premonitions usually come as "dreams" however they aren't like everyday dreams..they are very vivid and there seems to be a lot of detail and I remember those details after I wake up. Unlike other dreams where as soon as I wake up I forget most of it.
One dream I remember very well was right before 9/11. The dream was as if I was watching a movie and everything that was happening was without me being involved but I was a spectator. It was disjointed but in the beginning of the dream there was a lot of running thru rooms of a building...I was watching people run and go in and out of rooms. There were children and Adults The next thing I remember is seeing a plane crash...It was so clear in my mind that I wrote it down in a journal. It was a Pan Am flight...and when it crashed a Middle Eastern man stepped out and laid a prayer rug (not sure if that is the correct name for it) on the ground and he began to pray to the East. This is where the dream involved me and I became part of the dream...I approached the man and offered him my hand and I told him he was in danger...I tried to get him to leave with me...and to be honest I don't remember if he did or didn't..
A few days later 9/11 happened...I have no idea what the dream was trying to covey and it really doesn't make a lot of sense but there are two many connections for it not to have meant something....
What are 10 things you've done that other people probably haven't?
Submitted by Janette.
hmmmmmm....Not sure if I will ever finish this because I REALLY am not sure there are ten things that I've doen that other people probably haven't....
1. Did Tarot Card readings online for free at first and then when I had a LOOOONG waiting list decided to charge a little for my time. The line became quite a bit shorter very quickly! hahaha
2. Wrecked the Drivers Education car in High School.
3. Drove until I was 23 without a drivers licence.
4. Slammed my head in a car door. ( Hey! I thought of something else I wanted to say as the door was shutting!)
5. Talked to a member of ZZ top and didn't realize it until someone told me later!
6. Flashed a particular Religious group on bicycles... and then got caught at a red light as the same time they did....(Not one of my finer moments...LOL)
7. I found out confidential information from an official in the police dept. I wanted to know if a friends neighbor had committed suicide or had been murdered. I pretended to be engaged to the victims son and I said I had a feeling that the son was keeping a horrible family secret from me...One that "I was afraid was so awful that he believed I wouldn't marry him if he told me about it. (In reality I just was curious because the mans house had stayed closed for many years even though all of his belongings and even food was still in the fridge..Right down to half unwrapped Christmas gifts laying on the floor.
" The official told me I had nothing to worry about that the secret was not murder but actually a suicide and that the son was the only heir and he didn't want to return to the house so he just left it.....The man had commited suicide on Christmas eve during a family Christmas party...:-( (It was Nosey and stupid of me to do...just so you know that I know that! LOL)
8. Meditated with Buddhist monks and studied with the Monk that was directly under the "master"...Very cool experience.
9. I met the "Master" of the buddhist temple I studied at and asked him what a particular phrase was that I would hear when I meditated...It was according to him "Get Out" in an ancient Vietnamese dialect. Interesting....
10. Worked as a midwife's assistant and I have witnessed birth and helped deliver several babies AND I caught one baby while in the hall of a trailer home with the mom standing up and refusing to move and lay back down! SCARY!
Well...I guess I'm not as boring as I thought I was ! LMAO!! Of course all of this is over a lifetime so it only looks impressive when it's all condenced onto one page/blog
What's the best gift you received this year?
Kyle helping me cook Christmas dinner! We had such a good time ...Kameron and Priya helped a little but Kyle continued to help me the entire day...He was proud of himself and I was proud of him. No gift could have been better than that!
What are your irrational fears?
Submitted by Dan Culhane.
I may have mentioned this before here but my number ONE irrational fear is....canned biscuts!
I don't buy them often anymore but when I do and when they are to be opened I can't do it myself. I have to find someone else to do it and then I have to leave the room. Just the idea of holding something in my hand that will "POP" sends me running!
Of course Robert finds this fear hilarious and will run behind me with the can in his hand and say "I'm gonna do it! I'm gonna open them!!"....NOT FUNNY! :-P
I'm also freaked out by balloons and firecrackers!
What is your favorite dish on the Thanksgiving table?
Submitted by Kadeeae.
My favorite dish is FOR SURE ...Cranberry Salad. I't been served every year since I was a kid and I have carried on the tradition in my home.
My Grandmother was NO cook...In fact I lived on "cooking bags" and T.V. dinners. However twice a year she actually cooked a meal. The cranberry salad was by far the best part of the whole meal. I don't have measurements because I watched her make it and she never used a recipie. However I'll share what I know...:-)
This is probably enough for eight.
1 bag of cranberries..frozen
1 can of pineapple tidbits drained
1 bag of mini marshmellows
1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
2 pints of whipping cream. (If I'm feeling lazy I use cool whip...)
Whip the cream in a large mixing bowl and add sugar to taste as you are whipping it. The cream should be sweet but you don't want it too sweet due to the marshmellows.
Once the cream is whipped add the bag of marshmellows, cover it and put in the fridge.
Next grind the frozen cranberries a little at a time in a blender. They are easier to chop or grind up when they are frozen. Do this a little bit at a time because they will pack down in the blender and be difficult to get out. Pour them into a large bowl as you finish each batch until you finish the bag.
Once all the cranberries are chopped up ...dump in the pineapple and the nuts. Cranberries are VERY sour so you need to add sugar...I usually add it and taste it ...add a bit more and taste...until it's still tart but sweet.
Cover this mixture and put it in the fridge....
It's best to leave the two bowls in the fridge overnight but a couple hours will do.
The next morning (or whenever) combine the two bowls and mix well...put it back in the fridge until you are ready to eat it....YUMMMMMMM!!
I love this stuff so much that I started making it in the Spring for Easter and 4th of July in the summer...I just replace the cranberries with a mixture of 1/2 strawberries and 1/2 rasberries...this is also the time I usually use the cool whip! :-)
If you try it take a photo and let me know what you think! :-)
Music-wise, what was the first 45, single or download you bought?
Submitted by Paddy Melt Wagon.
Ohhh boy am I going to date myself with this answer....
My first 45 was Ta-Do-run-run (I think that's the title) By Shaun Cassidy. Not David Cassidy...Shaun..LOL
Shaun was the man of my dreams...(Remember I was only 12) :-) I had his posters all over my room and there was one in the stairwell leading to my bedroom. I would kiss it EVERY time I went upstairs...When Ta-do-run-run came on my AM raido the world stopped spinning and I would listen with my heart a-flutter. Finally I got a cassette player and recorded it stratight from the radio onto a cassette...I listened to it that way over and over and over..rewinding to the part "where he sighs" (I think he just took a breath. haha)
Finally I saved enough money 2.99 I believe and bought the 45...If I remember right it had Ta do run run on one side and "IF you believe in magic" on the other side...
Shaun got married when I was 13 years old. I'll never forget my dad bringing me a newspaper clipping about his wedding.
I was sitting with my stepmom at their dining room table when he walked in and tossed it to me.."Looks like Shauney Boy didn't wait for you" he teased. I think I felt the world crumble a little.. Silly as it sounds that was such a painful moment for me I truely believed that someday we'd meet somewhere and he would fall head over heels in love with me...So it was NO teasing matter in my world that he got married. My dad soon realized that. My stepmom jumped in and saved the day as my dad stood frozen...Tears were already coming...and I was trying not to embarass myself. My stepmom said with pure conviction "Oh that's nothing Laurie! Those Hollywood marriages NEVER last..he'll be divorced by the time your old enough to marry him anyway!"....That was Fantastic! She gave me back the hope!...and somewhere between 13 and "old enough to get married" I forgot my love Shaun...besides he stayed married a lot longer than my stepmom expected! :-)
It's so funny what memories some of these questions can bring to the surface! WOW!
What did you do as a child that you feel guilty about even to this day?
Well...I do feel guilty about this..but there is a certain sick humor to it as well that makes me laugh.
From the 3rd grade until we were young adults my Best Friend was a girl named Jamie Weaver. If you Google her name you can see that she was the March Of Dimes Poster Girl in 1976 I believe. Jamie was born without eyes. Her mom had what we called the "Three Day Measles" back then. So Jamie had glass eyes.
I had no idea her eyes were glass...I was kid and it never entered my mind. Her eyes looked a little odd but I just thought they were her eyes and that they "Didn't work". Until one night when I stayed over night with Jamie. We were laying in bed talking and Jamie told me to put out my hand. When I did she placed two glass objects in the palm of my hand and told me to feel them. I did...and they felt like marbles cut in half. Jamie asked me "What do you think those are?" ..."I dunno..Marbles?" I replied. "No they are my eyes!"....Well I didn't throw them across the room but I'm sure my scream woke up the dead for miles around! So I turned on the light and sure enough..there in my hand were her eyes looking back at me! LOL
That's not the part I feel guilty about though....I feel guilty because it wasn't too long after that, that I came up with a 5th grade money making scheme. We would charge the kids at school ten cents to see Jamie without her eyes and to see the "glass eyes'...:-)
We had quite a racket going until the teacher found out. (Due to the long lines gathered around us at all the recesses and some little creepy kid that tattled on us! LOL) We had over a dollar in profits..and were planning on spending it the following weekend when she stayed at my house.
Well...Things didn't quite work out the way we planned....Her mom was notified and Jamie and I were not allowed to play together for awhile. Which broke my heart!
I've always felt guilty about that whole incident...because it was pretty thoughtless on my part. However I never thought of her as handicapped. In fact I might even feel more guilty about the times I talked her into jumping off of high structures with me! LOL...She would always do it...and I never thought of it as being any different than if I asked any of my other friends to do it..but looking back....It probably wasn't a great choice to ask a blind 4th grader to jump off the top of the "Climbing Wall"..
Oh and what about the time she told me that she thought her dad had dirty magazines hidden in his room..and I talked her into sneaking in and looking at them! I saw my first lesbian that day....And proceeded to describe it to Jamie in great detail...Hmmm I feel some guilt there too! LOL...Or the time I left her in the middle of the playground at recess because she got too "Bossy" with me. Yup Guilt...Guilt and More Guilt!
